What’s the difference between a broad spectrum softgel and a CBD isolate softgel?

A broad-spectrum hemp extract contains many of the naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes and other phytonutrients in the hemp plant creating what’s called the entourage effect, while an isolate is concentrated, consist of extensive processing and contains only the single compound.

The entourage effect is fairly easy to understand. It refers to the synergy achieved by all the components in cannabis. These components work together to enhance the potential benefits of the plant. Each compound can amplify the therapeutic properties of the others while mitigating their potential side effects

How do I know if the CBD is working?

CBD is not a see-all, end-all, cure-all type of product - meaning you can't just take CBD whenever you feel the need to, and expect all your problems to vanish.  Consistency is key, and it is through this consistency that you'll truly know if it helps or not.

How often should I take CBD?

Use Balance Factor CBD as needed.  Some people use it once daily while others use a minimum number of doses while increasing as needed.

Some people take our softgels in the morning with their daily vitamins while others take them before bed to promote a good night’s rest. Most take them to reduce pain and inflammation, manage stress and boost their mood. Still others take it after a workout to aid their recovery. Your purpose for taking our softgels can drive the schedule you take them on, but remember, consistency will yield the best results to nourish your body on a daily basis.

How should I store my Balance Factor CBD softgels?

Our softgels should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct light.

How are softgels different from tinctures?

Our softgels are water soluble, which means they are twice as absorbable as a CBD tincture. They also have set amounts of CBD. However, tinctures come in unique flavors and can be added to foods and drinks.

CBD 101 – The basics

What is the difference between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?

The main difference between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil is that Hemp Oil does not contain CBD.  CBD and hemp oils are made from different parts of the hemp plant and have different purposes.

CBD is a compound found in industrial hemp and using a Full Plant Extract CO2 extraction process, we are able to use the entirety of the plant, minus the seeds, to draw the CBD from the plant material while filtering out undesirable plant matter such as lipids, waxes, and THC.  What you are left with is a CBD-rich hemp extract oil that will eventually be used in a variety of CBD products, such as that of Balance Factor’s CBD.

Hemp Oil is extracted only from the seeds of the hemp plant.  The process presses the hemp seeds and is used in a variety of products ranging from protein supplements to varnishes for wood.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds found in both cannabis and hemp plants.  Out of the 100+ active cannabinoids in either plant, only of them is psychoactive - THC.

Will CBD get me high?

Scientifically speaking, CBD as a compound is non-psychoactive - so it is impossible to get high off CBD-infused products.  If your CBD-product contains THC, which is a psychoactive compound, chances are you will.

Is it possible to overdose on CBD?

The short answer is NO, you cannot take too much CBD.

It is impossible to "overdose" or take too much of CBD due to something called bioavailability.  Bioavailability is the process in which chemical compounds are metabolized by the body.  Depending on how you take the CBD, the bioavailability ranges between 6% and 40%.  Should you take too much CBD, your body will simply pass it through as waste.

How long does it take before I can feel the effects of CBD?

Depending on the method in which you consume CBD, the time it takes before our bodies process them varies.  According to our calculations:

  • Balance Factor CBD softgels: 45mins to 2 hours
  • Balance Factor CBD roll-on gel Topical: 20-30 minutes

It is worth noting that we all process things different.  Factors such as weight, age, diet, and genetics all ultimately play factors in how we absorb the CBD.

Does CBD have side effects? If so, what are they?

There is very little systematic information on the side effects of CBD; but what has been reported, however, that with very high doses of the compound, dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness, changes in mood and changes in appetite may occur.

Will I fail a drug test with Balance Factor CBD products?

While our CBD products contain 0.00% THC, it really comes down to how you are being drug tested.  For example, a urine test might not catch nearly undetectable levels of THC whereas a hair sample might.  We recommend that if you work in an environment where you may be subject to random drug tests, please consult with your employer about the products you decide to consume.

Can CBD replace my prescribed treatment?

Please consult your physician before making the decision to incorporate or replace any existing prescriptions in your treatment.
